Summary
In the 1930s South, Scout Finch, a young girl, grows up in a town marked by racial prejudice and

American man falsely accused of raping a white woman, Mayella Ewell. As the trial progresses,
Scout and her brother Jem witness the systemic racism that taints the justice system. Despite
evidence proving Tom’s innocence, he is convicted and later killed while attempting to escape
prison. The novel explores themes of racial inequality, morality, and the loss of innocence as
