Summary

Noemí Taboada travels to a creepy mansion in rural Mexico to check on her cousin, who has

sent disturbing letters. The house is eerie, filled with rot, silence, and secrets, and its inhabitants

behave strangely. Noemí begins experiencing terrifying dreams and hallucinations. As she

investigates, she uncovers the family’s dark history of eugenics, incest, and supernatural control.

The house itself seems alive, feeding off the minds of its residents. Noemí must resist both

psychological and literal poisons to escape. The novel blends classic Gothic horror with themes

of colonialism and female resistance.
